Youth Red Cross Unit 2025-2026
1) A poster-making competition was successfully conducted for students on 09.08.2025 to promote awareness about HIV/AIDS. The event aimed to educate students about the causes, prevention, and social impact of HIV/AIDS while encouraging them to express their understanding creatively through posters.
2) Organised anti drug awareness programme in association with Anti drug awareness cell on 21.08.2025. Rev. Fr. M. C. Mathai was the president of the programme. Dr. Prakash Tholar from Shrimata Hospital, Kundapura, and Mr. Vithal M., Station Officer of , were present as chief guests. The speakers emphasized the addiction and in realizing the dream of a drug-free India.
3) A blood donation program was organized on 29/08/2025 in our institution. Many students also took part enthusiastically and made the program successful.
4) A total of 30 students were deputed on 01.09.2025 to participate in a “Jatha on World Peace and Madaka Dravya Virodhi” (anti-drug awareness rally). The primary purpose of this participation was to promote awareness about the importance of maintaining peace in society and to educate the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse..
5) An orientation programme was conducted on 3rd September 2025 with Dr. Gananth Ekkaru as the resource person. The programme aimed to create awareness about humanitarian values, community service, and the importance of helping people in need during emergencies and disasters.
6) Ten students were deputed on 11.11.2025 to participate in the ‘Ekatha Jatha’ held at Udupi on the eve of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
7) An AIDS awareness programme was organized at S.M.S. College on 21.11.2025 , in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC), and Red Ribbon Club (RRC). The objective of this programme was to create awareness among students about HIV/AIDS, dispel misconceptions, and strengthen social responsibility. The chief guest of the programme, Mr. Alanduru Manjunath, Senior Supervisor at the Primary Health Centre, Brahmavar, spoke in detail to the students about the modes of transmission of HIV, preventive measures, the importance of early testing, and counseling.
